The East Avenue Medical Center Dermatology Residency Training Program was established in 1992 within the scope of Internal Medicine. It gained official departmental recognition in 1999, and attained the status of the Dermatology Referral Center of Quezon City in 2003. The department subsequently settled at the present Outpatient Clinic and inaugurated the Skin Center in 2014. In 2022, the Department received accreditation as an Advanced Comprehensive Center for Dermatology from the Department of Health (DOH).
Functioning as an Advanced Comprehensive Center for Dermatology, the department remains unwavering in its pursuit of excellence and is committed to delivering high-quality and compassionate services to all patients. A key facet of this commitment involves conducting regular medical missions in collaboration with partner communities and in remote areas with limited access to dermatologic care.
Furthermore, the department is dedicated to providing advanced training opportunities for its residents and fellows. In line with this commitment, the Phototherapy Fellowship program was launched in 2023, marking the inception of the first accredited program of its kind in the country.
Research holds a paramount position within the department, as evidenced by active participation in numerous conferences and competitions, both domestically and internationally, by residents and consultants alike. Notably, the department is equipped with various subspecialty units, such as Phototherapy, Contact Dermatology, Dermatological Surgery, Hair Restoration, Nail Care, Pediatric Dermatology, and Community Dermatology. Moreover, an array of state-of-the-art equipment, including diverse phototherapy machines and lasers, is available, thereby facilitating the provision of exceptional dermatologic care to the Filipino population.
