DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDICS 

 

The East Avenue Department of Orthopaedics is a community-oriented, multi-specialty healthcare organization dedicated to providing quality and diversified medical/surgical services for the benefit of our patients. It is committed to developing versatile and innovative specialists, producing relevant research, and providing specialty health care for the community.

The department has evolved throughout the years to include subspecialty sections such as Trauma, Adult Orthopaedics, Hand and Microvascular Surgery, Spine, Sports Medicine, and services such as Pediatric Orthopaedics, Arthroplasty, Limb Deformity Correction, Orthopaedic Oncology, Musculoskeletal Infections, Foot and Ankle, and Trauma Complication. This has made catering to a wide variety of patients possible. Recent breakthroughs in the department include the improvement of the Immediate Fixation Clinical Pathway, the organization of a functional Fragility Fracture Committee, linkages with the National Children’s Hospital, the Victoriano Luna Medical Center, and the Veterans Memorial Medical Center, and a unique capacity to manage a growing number of advanced trauma, pelvic trauma patients, and patients requiring advanced wound care.

 

The department’s patients are currently housed in a dedicated Orthopaedic wing which boasts 46 beds, 17 Balkan frames, negative pressure wound therapy capabilities, and an array of orthopaedic supplies that enable excellent patient care. The department also hosts Specialty Clinics for Hand, Spine, Adult, Pediatric cases on all weekdays to cater to patients with non-emergent concerns.
